King Cobra
In Nepal, King Cobra has been verified all over Terai and up to 2500m; whereas in Southeastern Tibet, nearby Nepal, it has been originate up to 4000m. King Cobra is considered infrequent in Nepal but severe field study is crucial for the valuation of its precise preservation status. The species has been listed as Susceptible in the National Red Data Book of Nepal since 1995 but Shah and Baral (2010) optional it to be included in Nepal Government’s National Parks and Wildlife Preservation Act (1973) in depending to level of different threats and exclusivity.

King Cobra specific technical study had been till date missing in Nepal. Moreover, no any evidence on nesting ecology of King Cobra was presented. Therefore, we had very little in-country material on the species. Hence, we started our study on delivery, pressures and nesting ecology of King Cobra in Northern parts of Makwanpur district.
The existence of King Cobra in the proposed study area was dangerous, within last three years, adult King Cobras were heartlessly killed and four nests along with 90 eggs were cracked by the local people. The main reason was due to fear as a consequence of lack of information about the species and its role in the nature. Therefore, better sympathetic on distribution of King Cobra, threats to its existence and nesting ecology was essential so as to come up with specific preservation measures in the future.
Our methods included lines divide survey, key informant informal interaction, interview, questionnaire examination and watching of nests during breeding season. The plan was supported by Nature and Historical Place, Nepal.
