Muktinath Temple Historical Place of Nepal

Muktinath Temple is a Historical Place of Nepal located in Muktinath at a height of 3,710 meters at the base of the Thorong La mountain in Mustang, Nepal. Muktinath Temple is a holy place for both Buddhists and Hindus. Closer site to the village is Ranipauwa, sometime mistakenly called Muktinath.

Hinduism called this place as Mukti Kshetra, which means the “place of Moksh”. Among 108 Divya Desam, Muktinath Temple considered as 106. Muktinath Temple considered holy by the Sri Vaishnava sect. The ancient people name of this place as Sri Vaishnava literature, before Buddhist beginning, is Thiru Saligramam. Saligram Shila, considered to be the Nature creation available form of Sriman Narayan – the Hindu Godhead. It is also known as one of the 51 Shakti Peeth. The Buddhists name this place as Chaumig Gyatsa, Tibetan meaning as "Hundred Waters". Although the temple has a Vaishnav origin, it is also respected in Buddhism because Guru Padmasambhava meditated there for some time. Muktinath is a very important place of Dakinis, one of the 24 Tantric places, goddesses known as Sky Dancers, For Tibetan Buddhists. They understand the Murti to be a appearance of Avalokitesvara, who represents the kindness of all Buddhism.
